Writer Of The Week- Aabha

I went to the Pumpkin patch with my mom, dad and my little brother & sister.
I did so many fun things like climbing on a hay pyramid, sliding on a huge slide, eating ice cream and face painting.
The farm was huge with corn fields and pumpkins. The best part was  when we took the train ride through corn field and a ghost came to scare us.😢

BLOGGER OF THE WEEK: Mackenzie-Mrs. McAvoy's Class

Here is our first Kindergarten "Blogger of the Week."  Thank you Mackenzie for creating such a great story!

My Day with My Family at the Pumpkin Patch
The pumpkin patch is fun. It has lots of pumpkins. We picked lots of different types of pumpkins. We picked big ones and small ones. We picked orange, white, yellow and green pumpkins. I named all of the pumpkins we picked. I named them Hand Pumpkin, and Chicken Pox Pumpkin. We also saw different kinds of squash. My favorite was the big green squash. We also got to ride in a wagon with our pumpkins.  My grandma came with us. We took lots of pictures with our pumpkins. Even baby Vivienne got to play in the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch also had dinosaur skeleton, rocking horses, and corn fields.  I heard crickets in the fields.  It was a very fun day.

I absolutely love using "Whole Brain" teaching in the classroom.  Students take pride saying their rules every day.  Each day I choose 2 students to lead us in the rules.  They get to decide what voice we say them in (princess, robot, spider, the voices are endless).  This has become a routine every morning and one that the students look forward to every day!
We had such a great time teaching our 5th grade buddies the Tooty-Ta!

In our new theme we are learning all about our family.  Hopefully your children came home and asked if they could bring some pictures to school tomorrow.  I am so excited to learn more about your family and see all of the photos tomorrow!  I can't wait to see the pictures.  Here are a few pictures of my family from my wedding that just happened in July.

EXTRA CREDIT ALERT!! Any student who makes one of these over the weekend gets an extra penny on Monday. These are called the Ten Frame Ababcus. You will need 20 beads, 10 of each color, two pipe cleaners, and an 8x10 foam paper cut in half. Students can use any color beads but clear and any color foam. This is another way we will be subatizing in the classroom.

Happy Sunday!  This week we will be reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  This is one of my favorite books.  Here is a link to the song.

We have been practicing "Who Let The A Out" daily and the kids are very excited to show you.

You can click on the link below to see the sound spelling cards we use in the classroom to help us learn the letters and sounds.  This is also a great thing to print out an have at home when students are writing. Have them try to sound out the letters in a word instead of spelling the words for them.  This helps them to become independent writers.

We have been reading The Kissing Hand.  Please watch this video with your child and have them retell the story to you.
